My goal is to create a safe and accepting space for my clients where you feel comfortable to show all of yourself and explore what is distressing in your life. Together we can explore what is getting in the way of feeling the happiness and peace you deserve and how to remove those obstacles.
How I work I have been providing therapy for individuals, groups and families for over six years. Throughout my time working as a therapist, I have studied multiple modalities and worked with diverse populations. In my therapy sessions I pull from a number of modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. While I believe it is really important to give my clients space to have a voice and for me to listen deeply to understand them, I also find it beneficial to be collaborative and interactional in sessions. I find it helpful to give assignments in between sessions so that growth and learning isn't constrained to one hour a week, but that my clients can continue their growth outside of the therapy hour.
My Why As a fellow human being with my own journey of growth, I have so much respect and empathy for my clients and feel honored to be a part of their path. I believe the most difficult thing is often accepting all of ourselves and our experiences. When we reject ourselves, or a part of ourselves, this can lead to feelings of not being good enough, feeling inadequate, comparing ourselves to others and coming up short, feeling anxious, depressed, and ashamed of oneself. These feelings can lead someone to become a perfectionist, an overachiever, attempt to make their body into the ideal shape/weight, or escape painful feelings through alcohol, drugs, food, or other means.
