How Therapy with me Works
I see adults in individual therapy sessions. This typically begins with weekly sessions (or 2x/wk if preferred) in order to build a connection and a foundation for our work together. Once you feel like you are making progress, we can talk about if you are wanting to transition to every other week and continue to decrease our session frequency from there according to what feels right for you. My goal is not to see you for years on end, but to help give you the tools and understanding so that you increasingly don’t feel like you need therapy anymore.
I tend to be supportive and collaborative in my style, striving for the sessions to feel as emotionally safe as possible so that you feel uninhibited in what you share. I want you to know that what you are experiencing is probably much more common than you think and that, rather than judging you for what you perceive as your flaws, I see myself as a fellow traveler in this journey of life and human emotions and feel relatedness and compassion for what my clients share.
I am experienced in many different modalities and use the techniques in session that I feel will be most helpful based on what you are coming in with. This can range from giving you my full attention and understanding so that you can be seen and have a voice, helping you understand what you are experiencing through psychoeducation, teaching you tools or new mindsets, exploring your self-talk and how to shift it, exploring your past, and providing you with resources that may be helpful.
